I explore affluence as a veneer that conceals its dependence on underpaid labor, the unseen and unnamed workers fabricating, handling, shipping, cleaning and preparing luxurious experiences behind the scenes. In an effort to process the elitist institution of commercial art, I test translucent surface texture by coating dirty cleaning wipes with an imitation-gold alloy that tarnishes green when mixed with a wet medium. As David Bayles and Ted Orland state in their 1993 book, Art & Fear, there is a false assumption that art is "a magical gift bestowed only by the gods." The realities of making art isn't this romanticized thing. I am a craftsman and a technician who problem solves different ways to logistically make an object.

Investigo el tema de riqueza como una fachada que esconde lo mucho que depende en el labor de sueldo bajo. Sin que se vean y sin ser nombrados, trabajadoras fabrican, manejan, transportan, limpian y preparan experiencias lujosas entre bastidores. Procesando la institución élite del arte comercial, exploro la trasparencia y textura de superficies pintando trapos sucios con oro falso oxidado con la humedad del medio trasparente. David Bayles y Ted Orland escriben en su libro del 1993, Art & Fear, que hay una expectativa falsa caracterizando el arte como un don mágico de los dioses. Las realidades de crear arte no es una cosa idealizada. Yo soy una artesana técnica que resuelve problemas para logísticamente fabricar un objeto.
